| Overview | This unit 'A Student Guide To Search Engines And To Summarizing Content' is divided into two sections. Each section has six lessons that introduce ideas and concepts to students through the use of a short PowerPoint presentation followed by an activity sheet which reviews and reinforces the lesson. Section One , in pink, guides the learner through the process of identifying appropriate search engines. Then introduces strategies to harness the power of a search engine in order to access information effectively. Section Two, in blue, helps the learner makes sense of the search results. This is done by introducing several strategies to summarize this new found knowledge. Concepts such as plagiarism, referencing as well as the importance of constructing their own meaning from what they read is introduced throughout the steps. |
